Going The Extra Mile
Going The Extra Mile
Do you have a story about WOW or BAM at your school? Would you like to recognize a staff member?
A 2019 Report from Mayor Johnson’s Task Force for Safe Communities proposed recommendations for non-law enforcement solutions to crime and violence in Dallas. One recommendation of the report is for school-based social-emotional learning programs, like BAM & WOW, that teach youth to pause before they act, through mindfulness, emotional regulation, responsible decision making, self-awareness and relationship skills.
In response to the Mayor’s Task Force for Safe Communities Report, Youth Guidance has partnered with Dallas Independent School District and the City of Dallas to deliver BAM & WOW in school communities experiencing the highest rates of juvenile violent crime. This work is funded, in part, through a grant from the Charles & Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation.
